A road trip along the Spanish coasts

A road trip along the Spanish coasts
4 avril 2019

A road trip along the Spanish coasts is an incredible experience!  The vast roads lead you through hilly landscapes with beautiful views of the mountains and sea. From North to South you pass large cities and small fishing villages, one more beautiful than the other. The famous Autopista del Mediterráneo (AP-7) provides you with breathtaking views. Although you can actually drive the entire coast in one day, it is of course much nicer to stop in some of the special places that Spain has to offer. From Valencia to Seville; we list those incredible  South  ‘costas’ for you!

Costa Blanca

Start your road trip in Valencia, the city of art and culture. Cathedrals, boutiques and endless tapas tents will get you right in the right Spanish moods. Get in the car here and start your journey with a visit to the Northern and Southern Costa Blanca. Turn off at popular fishing villages such as Jávea and / or Móraira. Characterized by a good balance between tourist facilities and authenticity, you can enjoy azure blue bays, bustling streets and the best paella's in this region.

Costa Calida

When the famous paella's have filled your belly it is time to set sail for the Costa Calida. Take plenty of time to explore Murcia and the surrounding coastal towns, leaving at least one day free to enjoy the 22 km long La Manga del Mar Menor headland; known for the healing properties of salt water and mud. In this region you will find something for everyone with that wonderful Spanish tranquila vibe. The prices here are a lot lower than in many other seaside resorts along the Spanish coast, so take advantage of it!

Costa de Almeria

After exploring Costa Calida, the AP-7 will lead you to the Costa de Almeria. From the car you can see the landscape becoming rougher and more desert-like. This is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Spain and the Costa de Almeria has two beautiful nature parks; Cabo de Gata-Níjar and Sierra Maria-Los Vélez. With an unpolished character, this is the perfect region for those who love peace and nature. The old capital of the region, Almeria, has an authentic character and sights such as  ‘el Fort Alcazaba ‘are definitely worth a visit!

Costa del Sol

You have arrived in the southernmost and perhaps most famous coastal region of Spain; the Costa del Sol. Equipped with luxurious seaside resorts and the more hippie-like spots, sun worshipers have a wide choice of stopping options. From Marbella to Estepona and more. Be sure to visit Málaga for some cultural cruising! We recommend to go a little inland at the end of your road trip and end up in Seville. The city has been the scene of several films and series, which is not surprising considering the magical nature of the city. On the way to Seville it is advisable to make a pit stop in one of the more than 20 beautiful pueblos blancos that characterize Andalusia.

Enjoy the ride!
