Haunted houses
Soon it is Halloween, so time to focus on scary things. We will introduce you to some houses in Europe that we know as “possessed properties”. Our ghost journey starts in Denmark.
DENMARK – DRAGSHOLM CASTLE
Built in 1215 and one of the oldest castles in Denmark. Said to be the most haunted castle of Europe. In 1694 it was rebuilt in Baroque style. In the 16th and 17th century the noble class people held prisoners in parts of the hotel.
It is a hotspot for ghosts as more than 100 of them are “living” here. You might see the husband of Mary Queen of Scotts, the Earl of Bothwell. He died as a prisoner in Dragholms castle. Or meet the White Lady wandering the halls of the building. Builders found her skeleton in 1930 in a wall.
Currently Dragsholm Castle is a luxurious hotel. With fantastic rooms and a Michelin star restaurant. Offering a terrifying 2-night tour to learn about the spooky history of the castle.
UNITED KINGDOM – ANCIENT RAM INN
The Ancient Ram Inn in Gloucestershire dates back from 1145. Priests used the inn to keep workers and slaves to build the St. Mary Church. Built in such a way that it had spiritual influence from Stonehenge. It was the place for devil worshipping and child sacrifice.
The ghosts entered the hotel when the redirection of the water on the Ancient Ram took place. At that moment dark energy was present. In 1500 they burnt a woman at the stake, believing she was a witch. She is present in the “witch room”. People have seen a centurion on a horseback walking through the walls. There was a high priestess sitting on a bed. A monk appeared in the most haunted room. And a girl screamed with a scary voice. Plus a succubus that “slept” in the beds of visitors.
The Ancient Ram Inn is one of the most haunted and evil places in the world. Many paranormal events take place in the Inn.
FRANCE – CHÂTEAU DE BRISSAC
Situated in the Loire District, famous for its beautiful castles. Brissac is the highest castle in France. It has seven floors and 204 rooms, a private opera house and many portrait galleries. Built in the 11th century and now a well visited hotel. It houses “The Green Lady” or “La Dame Vert”. She is the improper child of King Charles VII. Following her father´s example her husband caught her in an affair and decided to kill her. Frequently, she shows up in the tower of the chapel. She wears a green dress with holes where her nose and eyes should be. Sometimes you hear her moaning around the castle.
UNITED KINGDOM – THE LANGHAM HOTEL
Back to England, to London this time. A tiny bit older than 150 years and a hotspot for the high society. Famous guests were Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde. And it was the “décor” for a Sherlock Holmes story. The Langham Hotel is a five-star hotel and the ghost that appear here are not the “ordinary ones” neither. Upper class ghosts like Napoleon III or a German elite man who killed himself here are present. They love to hang around in The Langham, one of London´s most famous hotels.
SPAIN – EL PREVENTORIO
Ghosts and evil spirits are everywhere. Likewise in Spain and even not far from the Costa Blanca North. A famous haunted place in Spain is the “Preventorio” in Aigües de Busot, a huge 19th century building. Once a hotel where wealthy people stayed here to rest. Later it became a hospital with loads of deaths. Nowadays, they say you are not alone here. Moving shadows, the sound of voices and the presence of the so-called crying White Lady.
