Nudist beaches in Costa Blanca North
26 Jun 2022

There are many beaches in the Costa Blanca (North). Most of them are very attractive. Soft white sand, a mild climate and clear turquoise blue water. It is no surprise that many of us want to spend some time on the beach. There is a beach for everyone. For families, couples, young adults, nudists and more. In this blog we emphasize on nudist beaches in the Costa Blanca North. But first we share some facts about nudism in general, in Spain and the Costa Blanca.

Nudism or naturism?

In the past nudism and naturism were two different things. Today both terms are often used for the same thing. Still, there is a difference.

Nudism comes from the French word ‘nu’, which means naked. Nudism is about naked without any deeper background. A nudist likes relaxing activities like swimming or sunbathing.

Naturism, originates from the word ‘nature’ and is a lifestyle. A naturist identifies himself with nature. Seeking harmony while respecting himself and others. Naturism is living with an open mind without prejudice.

Is nudism legal in Spain?

YES! 1989 the ban of nudists stopped. Ever since the nudist movement got bigger and bigger. Today about 500.000 people enjoy the beaches in Spain naked. Nudism is a right covered by the Spanish Constitution. So, it is 100% legal to go naked on the beach.

We recommend not to take off your clothes immediately when your feet feel the sand. In the Costa Blanca North we find several official nudist beaches as well as unofficial ones. Often you will see a mix of people in swimwear and those who do not want to wear anything at all. In general, the Spanish accept nudism . Still, it is important to always respect each other.

Nudism is a right in Spain. But the beach is the best place to undress yourself completely. There are some nude events in the country like the Pamplona Running of the Nudes. A naked protest against running the bulls.

Why Costa Blanca North is great for nudism

  • Nudism is a right covered by the Spanish Constitution
  • Nudism is well accepted by the people in Spain in general
  • The Mediterranean climate. Sunny, hot summers and mild winters
  • So many beaches to choose from. And a large choice of nudist beaches
  • Many holiday homes have a lot of privacy. Ideal for nudism practicioners

Top tips for nudist beaches

1. Footwear

Most nudist beaches are not that easy to access. Put your flip flops in your backpack and wear decent shoes to reach the cala. Bring water shoes as well. Some surfaces are rocky!

2. Relax

On a lot of nudist beaches there are hardly any facilities. Relax and enjoy the environment

3. Respect yourself and others

Nudism is accepted in the Costa Blanca. No doubt! Don´t stare at people. Don´t take photos of naked visitors. Respect the rules of the (un)official naturist beaches. Like this everybody can enjoy a day at the beach.

4. High sun protector

We all know that parts of our body see less sun than other. Don´t be ignorant. Even professional nudes better put a high protection sun cream.

5. Bring food and drinks

Bars and restaurants are scarce on a lot of nudist beaches. Bring food and drinks yourself and you will have a day without worries.

Below an overview of beaches where nudism is (un)officially accepted. Emphasizing on the region from Denia to Benidorm. We do not pretend to have the full list. So, if you know a good place in the area to practice beach naturism, please feel free to add this spot in the comments.
